What is The Mukti Self-Inquiry Process?
The Mukti Self-Inquiry Process can be the boat that takes you across the ocean.
MUKTI SELF - INQUIRY PROCESS
Have you looked over our website and seen this curious Mukti Self-Inquiry Process and wondered about it or perhaps even heard about Self- Inquiry before and thought you’d like some more information. If this were Instagram and I’d asked you to comment you might say, curious?
Well, I had the spanda (expansion/inspiration) to describe our Self-Inquiry form from the perspective of a framework I have been using for over 25 years.
In this blog post I’ve included a line or two about the philosophy of Self-Inquiry and a couple of quotes and then the methodology itself but it’s all very simple and straightforward.
So, let’s get started!
From my experience, Self-Inquiry is a benevolent spiritual technique designed not only to solve practical problems but also to spiritualise everyday experiences, it connects the personal with the impersonal, it respects the person, it doesn’t try and wipe out a person and as a result people find their relationships, health, career and their own intuition flowering and blossoming.
In Self-Inquiry I am studying who I really am and getting to the bottom of a great undeniable mystery. This work is my companion who helps me to navigate the material of day to day life from a totally new perspective, one filled with intelligence, luminosity, humor, healing, community, light, love.
It’s aimed at uncovering the many layers of who I think I am - AKA I am not my job, I am not a mother, father, best friend in the world, greatest dancer of all time(sadly).
Based on the principles of Kashmir Shaivism and non-dual Shaiva Tantra, it therefore integrates an ancient but also unique blend of traditional yogic wisdom with a practical application for the modern woman. It leaves no stone unturned and unpacks deep, long held patterns, and your connection to your Shakti
Question: Is it bad for a yogi to enjoy the world?
The teacher replied, ‘this world is a play of Consciousness, a play of the divine, so it is fine to enjoy it, and if it gives you Shakti (energy) so much the better.
Shakti is divine essence.
But if you live your life out of touch with your divinity you will become dry and empty and full of negativity and full of fear. If you live life in touch with the Shakti then your life becomes the unfoldment of the divine. A Shaivite yogi performs a balancing act between the world of spirit and their involvements. If they learn to flow with present experience a Shaivite is always led back to the centre.’
This is the goal of Mukti Self-Inquiry 🧡
It is undeniable that the role of intuition is a key aspect of spiritual practice (sadhana). Research has shown that it is a higher form of knowledge or inner guidance that stems from the same divine consciousness that permeates the universe, and that intuition bypasses the intellect by tapping into a more profound understanding of reality. This is aligned with the view that everything in existence is a manifestation of divine consciousness and so the Mukti Self-Inquiry Process acknowledges that true knowledge is inherently intuitive and self-evident.
So by tuning into this intuitive wisdom, women with a spiritual focus can transcend the limitations of ordinary perception and experience a deeper connection with their highest value. Mukti Self-Inquiry provides a trustworthy, reliable and recognised path of practice for contemporary women on a spiritual path.
There are three basic steps to the methodology of practice, they are:
INQUIRE
This involves asking a series of profound questions to tap into your inner self to uncover the root cause of distress or blockages within one’s life. This is where one locates oneself.
RECOGNISE
In this step the practitioner identifies and acknowledges the thoughts and emotions that create these blockages in this conversational tone. In this part of the process there is a deep sense of resonance - you can clearly see, identify, acknowledge your experience.
UPLIFT
Finally, the process focuses on resolving these unidentified issues by allowing the practitioner to return to a state of peace and clarity, often referred to as the clear space of good feeling. I love to refer to this as having a conversation with your best friend.
These steps are designed to help women address and transform negative patterns across the main areas of life including, work, relationships, health, spiritual life. I have been working with women with this process for over 25 years to uncover the deepest and most profound layers of their being and to come into relationship with life in profound ways.
‘Through Self-Inquiry, we realise that the mind’s thoughts and emotions are mere waves on the ocean of consciousness. By observing and questioning these waves, we begin to recognise the vast, still ocean of our true nature.’ Swami Shankarananda.

I Remember a Time: A Reflection on Grief and Beauty
What happens when beauty and sorrow meet?
In this deeply personal reflection, I share a time in my life when grief felt insurmountable—a heaviness that even my cherished spiritual practices couldn’t seem to touch.
And yet, through small, fleeting moments of light—walking my greyhound, lighting a candle, offering flowers—I began to rediscover beauty amidst the sorrow.
This piece is an invitation to explore how light and darkness, joy and grief, coexist as doorways to the divine. It’s a reminder that even in our darkest moments, beauty is still here, waiting to meet us.
If this reflection resonates with you, I’d love for you to join me on a new journey. I’ve created a sacred space on Substack to share devotional writing, reflections, and practices that connect us to the light within. Click here
